Reverend Lisa Conyers Hawkins is the eldest of three children born to Thomasina and Alphonso Conyers. She currently holds a BSN from Clemson University, a MSN in Clinical Psychiatric Nursing from MUSC, and a Masters of Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University.
Lisa is an active member of the Lowcountry Emmaus Community where she is presently serving on the board. She has served on several weekends of the Kairos Prison Ministry Community. Lisa was ordained an elder of the South Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church on May 27, 2003. She serves on the Conference Board of Health and Welfare. She is presently serving as the director of the Charleston Wesley Foundation. The Charleston Wesley Foundation serves the Citadel, College of Charleston, Charleston Southern University, and the Medical University of South Carolina. Lisa gave the College of Charleston Baccalaureate address in May of 2001. In January, 2002 she gave a stirring benediction at the College of Charleston Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration. She served as the chairperson of the College of Charleston Religious Life Council in the year 2002-2003 where her duties included planning the College of Charleston Baccalaureate Service. In 2002 Lisa was given an award for outstanding dedication and achievement in the field of religion.
