The Charleston Wesley Foundation exists on the campuses we serve to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. We seek to help followers of Christ grow in their faith and faithfulness to Jesus Christ. At CWF, we proclaim the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as articulated by the doctrines of the United Methodist Church. Not all of our students are Methodist (many aren't, and some do not profess the Christian faith). We welcome all who would join us on this journey of faith in Christ, regardless of where they are.
Who is this Wesley person anyway?
John and Charles Wesley were brothers who grew up in a Christian home in 18th century England. Following in their father's and and one of their older brother's footsteps (they had 19 children in the Wesley household!), and heavily influenced by the faith of their mother, they followed the path to ministry in the Church of England. While at Oxford, the Wesley brothers and other students began Christian groups that came to bear the name "Methodist." Thus, the Wesley brothers have leant their name to the United Methodist Church's college ministry.
The United Methodist Church's Beliefs
